Drinking Water Week (May 3-9) is an annual celebration that was developed by the American Water Works Association to recognize the critical role that drinking water plays in our daily lives. This year’s theme, “There When You Need It,” highlights the work that water professionals do around-the-clock to provide quality drinking water that is available from your tap.
So many of our frontline heroes have risen to the surface during our current public health emergency as they continue to go out every day to make sure the rest of us have access to life’s essentials and keep life flowing. Heroes like healthcare workers, grocery store employees, and delivery drivers and other frontline workers have been rightfully recognized, and Drinking Water Week provides the perfect opportunity to shine a light on some of the essential workers in our communities who are helping to provide access to clean, safe, reliable and affordable water. These heroes make it possible for us to have water for drinking, cooking and, perhaps more important than ever, maintaining personal hygiene.
In celebration of Drinking Water Week, American Water raises a glass to thank these essential workers.
And a huge thank you to all of our employees, especially those who continue to go out into our communities to ensure we can keep life flowing. We are highlighting some AWesome employee stories on our social channels this week. If you want to follow along, visit our , or channels.
